Tyra Banks Causes a Riot- I Hope they Had Cameras

A fight broke out while people were waiting to audition for the next season of "America's Next Top Model."

Police didn't know what prompted the chaos involving hundreds of people outside the Park Central New York hotel in Manhattan. The panic left the street outside the hotel littered with shoes and clothing, according to news reports.

I can tell you what prompted the chaos- the chance to be on television with the imminently fierce Tyra Banks is what prompted the chaos. I'm surprised this doesn't happen at every single event at which Tyra appears or might appear, or is rumored to have once appeared, or where someone who has actually seen Tyra in person might appear, or where anyone has even heard of Tyra Banks.

I hope someone thought to have cameras on the people who were waiting to audition. Most people save the rioting for the show.

Note to producers: Just cast everyone involved in the fight and be done with it. Highest-rated season ever.

Banks has said she created the show to counter stereotypes about beauty, and Saturday's auditions were open only to women no taller than 5-foot-7, which is shorter than the industry's conventions.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating: Short women is crazy women.

Update: Via the always remarkable TMZ, footage:

In the end, everyone went home and threw up...you know, because they were so shaken from the incident.

I really love TMZ.
