Dr. Drew Pinsky: Worse than even I thought. And I thought he was a c*nt

Sometimes you think that somebody can't get any lower. Dr. Drew Pinsky, the star of some truly awful shows on VH1 (which is of course now "evolved") is just such a person. He is a total scumbag-- a self-aggrandizing egomaniacal menace who treats his "patients" with unique cruelty and callousness.

And those are just the ones we see on television!

Anyone who watches his shows, Celebrity Rehab, Sex Rehab, and Sober House, must sit in open-mouthed horror at the way he allows those programs to portray him. The man is a sleaze, constantly making his "patients" feel like sh*t, placing them in deliberately provocative and dangerous situations, telling them they are "powerless" in the face of their addiction, and the only way they can "improve" (they will be "addicts" all their lives, even if they never take another drink or snort or smoke or whatever-- they always be at least a little helpless) is to submit to his every whim. The guy practically runs a cult on those shows for crying out loud, and his ego is so enormous that he is blind to the fact that he looks like a dangerous cretin.

On last night's episode of Sober House, Jennifer Gimenez, the odious, selfish, egotistical, inept basket case who serves as the house mother or something verbally attacked one of the "patients," Mike Starr formerly of Alice in Chains who has been "detoxing" from methadone addiction, among other things (Dr. Drew has repeatedly assured us that detoxing from methadone is particularly painful and dangerous) and this loudmouth "bitch" (Mike Starr's word, but appropriate) gets in his face and berates him...

...for not cleaning his room.

"I'll do it later," he says. "You'll do it now," she yells.

Jennifer Gimenez, the dangerously inept "recovering addict" who "runs" Sober House I hope it's helping her acting career, because it doesn't seem to be doing anything for the addicts she's supposed to be "helping."

It was a bizarre and completely inappropriate way for someone who is supposed to be helping a "recovering addict" to behave. In reviewing the tape of the scene later, Dr. Drew tells Jennifer that her actions would have been grounds for dismissal-- if she were actually a trained, licensed medical tech.

Why on earth isn't she trained? Why can she run a "sober house" without any mothereffing training for crying out loud?

Rather than remove the dangerous and unstable Jennifer, Dr. Drew callously allows her to stay, and brings in one of his "trained and licensed" techs from Celebrity Rehab.

And Mike Starr wasn't the only one she had problems with. As Seth "Shifty" Binzer put it, I didn't feel serene after morning meditation. That was because she spent the entire "meditation" time berating them for being worthless losers who were just ruining her, Jennifer Gimenez's, life.

(One of the show's more annoying aspects consist of the asides that Jennifer Gimenez provides to the camera. She spends most of her time whining about how the "recovering addicts" are just making her life miserable. Occasionally she'll offer some kind of platitude like "This ends here," or "I'm not doing this anymore," with a sorely misplaced air of triumph-- like she's taking a stand against the disease of addiction that is driving her charges to such unruly behavior, when really she's the one being childish and pathetic.)

I certainly hope real "sober houses" aren't run like that.

But it gets worse for Dr. Drew. He also believes it's okay to frame someone for a felony, and then call the police on them. Seriously, that's what he said to Radar online.
While Lindsay Lohan continues to party until the wee hours of the morning, and her family and friends grow increasingly concerned for her, Dr. Drew Pinsky, who is not treating Lohan, has some candid advice for the people closest to her.

The board certified addiction specialist tells RadarOnline.com, "If she were my daughter, I would pack her car full with illegal substances, send her on her way, call the police, and make sure she was arrested. I would make sure she was not allowed to get out of jail. I would then go to the judge and make sure she was ordered to a minimum of a three year sobriety program."
Some "advice"! At least he's "board certified" (why do they always insist on reminding us in these articles that he's "board certified"? what the hell kind of "board" would certify this quack?).
Dr. Drew says he would be more than willing to help the troubled actress, either in a private or public setting.
What a guy! He wouldn't even make Ms. Lohan appear on one of his sleazy television shows.

Like a silent movie villain, the odious Dr. Drew Pinsky rubs his hands together as he thinks of ways he can sink even lower than before.

Geebus goodam Christ Lindsay Lohan is a lot better off doing drugs out in the real world than being stuck in "rehab," if it's anything like what Dr. Drew offers on his television shows.

Happily, people are starting to wise up to this as shole, as a Ryan Grim at HuffingtonPost points out:
Celebrity addiction specialist Drew Pinsky -- who goes by Dr. Drew -- is taking an online beating for suggesting that the best way to deal with Lindsay Lohan's drug problem is to "pack her car full with illegal substances" and then call the police.
Question: Is Dr. Drew Pinsky a "celebrity addiction specialist" because he himself is addicted to celebrity? He's certainly not helping anyone on his shows.

He has Heidi Fleiss and Tom Sizemore on the same addiction television shows! They've been living together in Celebrity Rehab and now in Sober House for almost two months! And the two of them had an abusive, drug-using relationship many years ago. Why oh why would you conduct "rehab" with people who had such a history together?

To get more viewers. To increase your exposure. To feed your celebrity addiction.
Dr. Drew, who hosts a celebrity recovery show and gives professional advice, apparently lives in a world where people found with a "car full with illegal substances" are able to ask the judge to be sent to rehab for three years, instead of prison, and not have their request laughed out of court.

Blogger Scott Morgan at the Drug War Chronicle was among the first to lash out at, arguing that "when you sell Beverly Hills addiction therapy as pop-culture entertainment media, you forget that those same rules don't apply in Ohio and any parent taking Dr. Drew's reckless advice is putting their family in the drug war's deadly crossfire."
Yes, Dr. Drew's advice was "reckless." But anyone who has ever seen him on television knows that's just par for the course.

Dr. Drew is a c*nt. As bad as I thought he was, he's even worse.

I deliberately chose this actually quite good photo of an attractive young, vibrant-looking Lindsay Lohan to play on your sympathy for her. She represents goodness in this story-- Dr. Drew and Jennifer Gimenez are evil.

Oprah. Dr Phil. Dr Drew.

Remember when 'our betters' said Jerry Springer was bad for us?

let me see... anyone following dd's advice would get their car confiscated, along with multi-felony counts. the dea should immediately go on tv and say it would be their duty to also arrest (and recommend imprisonment) for anyone involved in the car-packing.

plus, quite honestly, I don't use "illegal substances" (which I take to mean illegal drugs + legal drugs sold illegally), so unlike dr. drew I don't know where to go to buy these items... let alone a "carload". you're talking about people pretty connected to be able to sell you THAT much drugs...

maybe the dea should check up on dr. drew? they might find out some interesting things...

I realize a lot about this whole "war of drugs" that I am not mentioning... but, dr. drew better realize it IS going on and people ARE doing hard time because of it... in places even (much) worse than his ill-run tv shows.

I was just about to rant on this...

also nice rant on jen. they hate mike. granted, he can be difficult (drug addict, duh) but he's no worse than some others.

I hope lindsay will be o.k. I don't know if rehab is what she needs as she went for about a year. maybe all she needs is for some self-appointed authorities to stfu and a parentectomy. nice photo of her. :)

EVERYONE I have ever heard of was taken directly from the rehab to sober house. thus, it's difficult for them to use drugs enroute. this makes a little more sense than the drew pinsky "go home for a week" (at least) method.

sorry this is long...

shampoo as always your comments ennoble the blog, so thank you.

I could have gone on and on and on about the "war on drugs," but it would have been a 10,000 word post and I'm really kind of tired of Dr Drew. I do think that this crackpot "advice" about framing someone, planting evidence, is just further proof that he is a jackass and shouldn't be taken seriously in any way, about anything.

And half of Sober House consists of Jennifer whining about how difficult everything is for her. If she were half as interesting as she thinks she is, she'd be about a third as interesting as me. That is a very cruel insult, trust me.

AJaye, yes, Springer seems downright quaint now compared to what's "mainstream".

ricky, you're nice. thank you. :)

I thought that was probably the case with the "war on drugs" thing... so, there are yet more reasons dr. drew is spouting off nonsense. given his job, shouldn't he know a lot more about drug laws than we do?

also... I was thinking... addicts often feel they have been treated unfairly. so, wouldn't framing someone for something worse than anything they seem to be doing just PROVE that to them? (if the prison term didn't ruin their life.)

I cannot believe they brought jen back. she was dangerously unqualified last year and, from the episodes I saw, she's even worse this year. her solution to everything is to try to throw people out. the woman is no fun to watch and I can't understand why she still has no training.

who did they bring in?

They brought in Loesha Zeaviar, from Celebrity Rehab. She is their second-best tech, after my cousin* Shelley Sprague.

*She's not actually my cousin.

To call Dr. Drew a c*nt insults that venerable organ.

maybe loesha will prove helpful. she HAS to be better than jen.
